Case study

Hermes NVC

A website for Hermes NVC, a trucking company based near Chicago, with driver applications and requests from shippers built into its pages.

Overview

Hermes NVC is a national trucking company headquartered just outside Chicago. It was founded in 2014 and runs routes across the 48 states.

We developed their site on a custom WordPress theme. It speaks to drivers and to shippers, and both can reach Hermes from the page they're on, since Apply to drive and Request info open short forms in place.

Key aspects

Recruiting drivers

The Careers page sets out the benefits for drivers and what they need to apply, and the Apply to drive form opens right on the page. Owner operators get their own page explaining how pay and costs work.

Services for shippers

The Services page sets out six kinds of freight, from long haul to step deck, with a drawing that runs from the Golden Gate Bridge to Chicago. Shippers can request information from the home and About pages.

Full-screen photos and Hermes' numbers

Each page opens on a full-screen photo or video with Hermes' own figures in large type, such as the year it was founded and the 48 states its routes cover.

Back end approach

The site runs on a custom WordPress theme. The figures at the top of each page, the driver benefits and the services are all edited in WordPress, so Hermes can keep them current as the fleet grows.

Takeaways

A trucking company needs drivers as much as it needs freight. The site gives drivers a reason to apply and a form close at hand, and gives shippers the services and a quick way to get in touch.
